He was in every episode of season 7…I think. He is in season 8 towards the end. I think he was only in the finale of season 9 and he appeared for 2 seconds in another season 9 episode, which doesn’t count because if you blink you will miss it and the opener in 9 doesn’t count because its not actually David.
Well from what I remember his contract was up and I guess he agreed to do a few episodes in season 8. I think he was tired and needed a break and wanted to do movies. From what I read he said he was bored playing Mulder and their schedule was pretty demanding. They worked like 14 hour days and had 3 months off something crazy like that. David wanted out way before he actually left. I was reading an article that was around season 5 and he talked about leaving. I know Gillian was barely in season 9 because it was in her contract that if she agreed to do season 9 she would be allowed a lot of time off to go visit her daughter in Canada. I think she had to fight for that though because exectivtives usually don’t care about personal lives and all.
When David first left i was like whyyyyyyy and I thought it was because he wanted to do movies and I remember the first thing he did was Evolution and I was like ummm its about aliens bitch you could have stayed but, the movie was different and really funny btw.I feel like he was just tired and personal happiness is more important then a tv show. Right now he has it made he only shoots for 12 weeks compared to getting 3 months off a year. That’s what the rumours were anyway.
